MercyMe é uma banda de rock cristão norte-americana formada em Greenville, Texas. A banda é composta pelo vocalista Bart Millard, o tecladista James Bryson, o percussionista Robin Shaffer, pelo baixista Nathan Cochran e pelos guitarristas Michael Scheuchzer e Barry Graul.
A banda formou-se em 1994 tendo lançado seis álbuns independentes antes de assinar contrato com a INO Record em 2001. A banda ganhou notoriedade e reconhecimento após o single "I Can Only Imagine" do seu primeiro grande álbum, Almost There, que foi certificado dupla platina.
Desde essa altura a banda já editou cinco álbuns de estúdio, tendo três deles sido certificados ouro, e lançaram ainda uma compilação de grandes êxitos. A banda já ganhou diversos GMA Dove Awards.

Nascido numa família e sendo filho de um jogador de futebol da Southern Methodist University Arthur Millard e irmão também de um jogador de futebol, o vocalista de MercyMe Bart Millard queria também seguir as pisadas e seguir o mesmo sonho, mas a sua carreira ficou por aí mesmo quando teve uma lesão no tornozelo num jogo de futebol do liceu. Como resultado da lesão, Millard entrou para o coro. Enquanto caloiro na universidade, Bart teve de passar pela morte de seu pai. O seu pastor na altura, mudava-se do Texas para a Flórida, convidando-o a trabalhar numa banda de adoração de jovens. Bart aceitou o convite e foi trabalhar no sistema de vídeo e som do grupo.
Certo dia quando o vocalista do grupo teve dificuldades no palco, Bart aceitou o desafio de cantar no grupo. James Bryson tocou piano nessa peça com Bart e mais tarde juntaram-se os dois numa viagem à Suíça com uma banda de adoração. Esta viagem tornou-se na causa de ambos levarem em consideração de tornar a música uma coisa a tempo inteiro. Millard e o seu amigo guitarrista Mike Scheuchzer, chegou de Oklahoma City para fundar MercyMe com Bryson.
O trio montou um estúdio num centro de dia abandonado. O baixista Nathan Cochran e o baterista Robby Shaffer juntaram-se mais tarde tendo participado nos seis álbuns independentes antes de assinarem com a INO Records em 2001.
Ao contrário dos primeiros três trabalhos, a sua carreira inicial tinha uma sonoridade mais virada para o rock. O nome da banda "MercyMe" surgiu quando Bart estava na Flórida como ministro. Diz que a sua avó um dia exclamou: "Well mercy me, why don’t you get a real job?"
